Department of Health and Human SciencesDr. Monica L. Johnson, Ph.D., L-SLP, CCC-SLP, is a speech-language pathologist with a passion for fluency disorders—especially stuttering—counseling for speech-language pathology, and research that makes a real difference. She earned her degrees from the University of Mississippi and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (twice!), bringing a strong foundation in research and clinical practice. She works with stuttering across the lifespan, from kids in 1:1 and group therapy (in-person and virtual) to adults in medical-based settings like rehab centers and skilled nursing facilities, focusing on cognition, voice, swallowing, and neurogenic communication. Dr. Johnson also explores the often-overlooked world of dating and relationships for people who stutter, bringing fresh insight to both research and clinical practice. Committed to evidence-based, person-centered care, she loves empowering clients and inspiring the next generation of clinicians—striving together to make a meaningful difference in the field.
