Department of Sociology and Criminal JusticeDr. Peter Shrock is an associate professor of criminal justice. He has an M.A. in criminal justice from Indiana University at Bloomington and a Ph.D. in sociology from the University at Albany, State University of New York. His research interests include organizational crime, the social construction of deviance, and the structure of social inequality. Currently he is collaborating on a study of media coverage of David Duke and Donald Trump and researching pre-Marxist thought on social inequality. He teaches classes on white-collar crime, organized crime, and crime and the media. His paper “Claims-making as a Basis of Class Power” was awarded the Graduate Paper Award by the New York State Sociological Association, and he has been published a number of journals, including Politics & Policy, the Journal of Crime and Justice, and Sociological Spectrum.
