Dr. Tabitha Accardo serves as an Instructor in the School of Nursing at Southeastern Louisiana University, teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level. She is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and a proud four-time Southeastern alumna where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Science in Nursing, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. Her doctoral dissertation, Implementation of a Weight Management Program in the Postpartum Population at a Local Rural Health Clinic, focused on supporting new mothers in adopting sustainable approaches to healthy eating and living.

Dr. Accardo is committed to student success by staying up to date with evidence-based practice and incorporating AI technology, open communication, and collaborative learning within her teaching. Her focus is on fostering critical thinking, clinical competence, and professional growth among future nurse leaders.

Her professional nursing background encompasses extensive clinical experience in emergency and intensive care settings, complemented by her role as Director of Nursing at a traumatic brain and spinal cord injury facility. In addition, she is the owner of a local Medical Spa where she integrates evidence-based practice with wellness and aesthetics to promote patient confidence and quality of life.

Area of Expertise

Dr. Accardo’s scholarly and clinical interests include weight management, neurotoxin and dermal filler research, improvement science in nursing education, and health promotion models aimed at advancing patient outcomes. She is a member of Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners, American Nurses Association, and Louisiana State Nurses Association where she maintains a strong commitment to advancing the nursing profession.
