Tonya C. Fowler earned both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) concentration from Southeastern Louisiana University. She is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
Her clinical expertise spans decades. As a registered nurse, she worked with medical/surgical, obstetrics/gynecology, and neonatal intensive care patients. She worked in primary care as a FNP and remains active in practice, focusing on health risk assessments and preventative care.
In the BSN program, Mrs. Fowler teaches Promoting a Healthy Community Lab and Advanced Concepts in Nursing Practice Lab. She is dedicated to creating a supportive and engaging learning environment that cultivates clinical competence, critical thinking, and professional growth in her students.
Mrs. Fowler is most fond of her travel nursing career, where she explored diverse cultures while delivering compassionate care throughout multiple states. She draws upon these experiences to inspire and mentor nursing students, fostering a spirit of excellence and resilience in the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Mrs. Fowler is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners, Northshore Region.
