HAMMOND – Three students received the Southeastern Louisiana University College
of Nursing and Health Sciences’ highest honor, the Dean’s Award, at the college’s
annual honors convocation held May 1.
The Dean’s Award in the Department of Health and Human Sciences was presented
to Cailin Henkel of Amite. The Dean’s Award in the Department of Kinesiology and Health
Studies went to Makenzie Sinagra of Amite, while the School of Nursing Dean’s Award
went to Hannah Martinez of Zachary.
The Significant Partnership Award was presented by each department in recognition
of contributions to the educational programs in the college. Todd Acosta, chief nursing
officer at Hood Memorial Hospital accepted the award from the Department of Health
and Human Sciences on behalf of Mike Whittington, CEO of Hood Memorial Hospital.
Health and Physical Education Program Mentor at Springfield Middle School Josh
McDaniel was honored by the Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies, while the
School of Nursing honored Lane Memorial Hospital Emergency Room Physician Michael
Romaguera.

College of Nursing and Health Sciences’ annual honors convocation. Honored were, from

University College of Nursing and Health Sciences’ annual honors convocation. Barrett
received Doctor of Nursing Practice Distinguished Scholar Award.
4) SOUTHEASTERN HONORS COLLEGE OF NURSING STUDENT (East Feliciana) - Ariel Jessup of Slaughter was recognized at the Southeastern Louisiana University
College of Nursing and Health Sciences’ annual honors convocation. Jessup received
Academic Honors.
5) SOUTHEASTERN HONORS COLLEGE OF NURSING STUDENT (Jefferson) - Koya Butler of Gretna was honored recently at the Southeastern Louisiana University
College of Nursing and Health Sciences’ annual honors convocation. Butler received
the Social Work Outstanding Student Award.
6) SOUTHEASTERN HONORS COLLEGE OF NURSING STUDENT (Lafayette) - Samuel Reutling of Lafayette received the Health Systems Management Outstanding
Student Award at the Southeastern Louisiana University College of Nursing and Health
Sciences’ annual honors convocation.
7) SOUTHEASTERN HONORS COLLEGE OF NURSING STUDENT (Livingston) - Tyler Allbritton of Holden was honored recently at the Southeastern Louisiana University
College of Nursing and Health Sciences’ annual honors convocation. Allbritton received
the Graduate Scholar Award in Athletic Training.
8) SOUTHEASTERN HONORS COLLEGE OF NURSING STUDENT (Rapides) - Caleb Govender of Alexandria was honored recently at the Southeastern Louisiana
University College of Nursing and Health Sciences’ annual honors convocation. Govender
received the Opal Carl Award.
9) SOUTHEASTERN HONORS COLLEGE OF NURSING STUDENT (St. Charles) - Kassidy Meredith of Destrehan was honored recently at the Southeastern Louisiana
University College of Nursing and Health Sciences’ annual honors convocation. Meredith
was recognized as the Communication Sciences and Disorders Outstanding Graduate.
10) SOUTHEASTERN HONORS COLLEGE OF NURSING STUDENTS (St. Tammany) - Students from St. Tammany Parish were recognized at the Southeastern Louisiana
University College of Nursing and Health Sciences’ annual honors convocation. Honored

Sciences; Sophia Foto, Covington, Charles W. Campbell Memorial Award in Communication

12) SOUTHEASTERN HONORS COLLEGE OF NURSING STUDENT (Terrebonne) - Daija Randolph of Gray was honored recently at the Southeastern Louisiana University
College of Nursing and Health Sciences’ annual honors convocation. Randolph was recognized
as the Population Health Management Outstanding Graduate.
13) SOUTHEASTERN HONORS COMMUNITY PARTNER – Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Health and Human Sciences honored
Mike Whittington, CEO of Hood Memorial Hospital, for his contributions to the educational
programs in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Accepting the award for Whittington
was Todd Acosta, chief nursing officer at Hood Memorial Hospital. Pictured with Acosta

14) SOUTHEASTERN HONORS COMMUNITY PARTNER – Southeastern Louisiana University’s School of Nursing recently honored Lane Memorial
Hospital Emergency Room Physician Michael Romaguera, center, for his contributions
to the educational programs in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Pictured
