Multiple Lines of Defense Strategy: Saving Coastal Louisiana

Lines of Defense

In connection with the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation, the Center assisted in
creating an informational video discussing the importance of the coast as protection
against natural disasters, such as hurricanes.  Louisiana loses between 25 and 35
square feet of wetlands per year.  Recognizing this, LPBF developed the Multiple Lines
of Defense Strategy in an effort to help save our coast.  Eleven lines of defense
are highlighted in the above infographic, including natural and man-made lines of
defense.

Dr. Samuel Hyde, Jr., and Dr. Keith Finley served as writers and historical consultants
on this media project.  CSLS graduate assistants and student workers also came together
to create this necessary and educational video.
