What is your favorite place on campus?
White Hall. That’s where all of my CSD classes are. I love my major. I have formed many relationships with my professors and classmates. It is such a positive and motivating atmosphere.
What are your hopes for your future?
My hope is that I get accepted into SLU’s graduate program for CSD. I love my school and there is no place I’d rather spend my next phase of my life as a student.
Why did you choose Southeastern?
I chose Southeastern because I heard that it offered a really good Nursing and Health Sciences College. It was also the perfect distance from my hometown so that I could experience college with new people and a new culture but close enough to occasionally make a trip home to visit my family. I could honestly say that I have never looked back or wished that I would have chosen another university.
What are some thoughts about your experience here?
Southeastern has given me a home away from home. As a freshman moving away from home, I was very nervous but ready to start my next chapter of life. Because I went to a high school two hours from Hammond, I thought I would have a hard time making friends. I decided to get involved on campus as a young freshman and realized how much Southeastern had to offer at that point. Three and a half years later, I have made countless lifelong friends and received an awesome education that has prepared me for a career as a speech pathologist. I would not trade my Southeastern experience for the world.
I could not ask for better professors. Every single professor that I have is willing to get to know you on a personal level. They all want to see you succeed and will go out of their way to make sure that they are providing you with the necessary tools you need to reach your goals. Currently, I am preparing myself for graduate school and my professors have gone out of their way to make sure that I am ready for this next step in my CSD career.
In 15 words or less, describe Southeastern:
It’s a perfect mixture of quality education and comfort. You’ll never feel alone at Southeastern.
What would you tell a prospective student?
Choosing Southeastern has been one of the best decisions of my life, and it could be yours too. Become a Lion and you will not regret it! Get involved on campus and form relationships with your classmates and teachers. Attend campus events and live on campus. As a graduating senior, I will always be thankful for my experience as a Southeastern student and the opportunities it has granted me with.
