Certified Personal Trainer Workshops to be offered at Southeastern

HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University’s Office of Recreation Sports and Wellness
will host two workshops March 11-13 for students and the general public leading to
certification as a professional personal trainer.
Sponsored by the American College of Sports Medicine, the programs include a
three-day workshop March 11-13 designed to prepare individuals for certification by
the ACSM and a one-day certification review on March 13.
Director of Recreational Sports and Wellness Dalzire Hebert-Crouch said the ACSM
certification is considered the “gold standard” in personal trainer certification
and will be delivered by Fitness Education Network.
The three-day workshop is designed to provide the practical knowledge and skills
needed to work in the evolving fitness industry and includes state-of-the-art information
in exercise sciences, industry guidelines, dimensions of wellness and more. The sessions
are Friday, 1 p.m. – 9:30 pm.; Saturday, 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.; and Sunday, 9 a.m. –
4 p.m. Cost of the workshop is $375.
The one-day workshop is intended for currently or previously certified personal
trainers who are confident in their basic knowledge of exercise physiology, anatomy
and kinesiology. The program will prove the specific knowledge necessary to attain
the ACSM Certified Personal Trainer credential. The session will be held Sunday,
March 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost of the workshop is $129
