HAMMOND – Three students received the Southeastern Louisiana University College
of Nursing and Health Sciences’ highest honor, the Dean’s Award, at the college’s
annual honors convocation held on campus recently.
The Dean’s Award in the Department of Health and Human Sciences was presented
to Courtnie Stelly of Ville Platte. The Dean’s Award in the Department of Kinesiology
and Health Studies went to Justin Webb of Denham Springs, while the School of Nursing
Dean’s Award went to Claire Bergeron of Baton Rouge.
The Significant Partnership Award was presented by each department in recognition
of contributions to the educational programs in the college. Sylvia Bush and Carrie
Mercke of Options in Hammond accepted the award from the Department of Health and
Human Sciences for providing internship opportunities for social work students. Child
Advocacy Services, represented by Joelle Henderson, Rob Carlisle and Lauren Reynolds,
was honored by the Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies for helping students
gain facility and event management experience through planning and executing an annual
fundraising flag football tournament. The School of Nursing honored Trafton Academy
in Hammond for providing nursing students with the opportunity to conduct physical
assessments with elementary students.
