How to log in to Canvas

In Spring 2024, students, faculty and staff at Southeastern started using Canvas as our Leaning Management System.

The most preferred way to gain access to this system is to login to your Southeastern Gmail account using a computer (not a phone or tablet) and to navigate to the SLU Homepage via Google Chrome.  Detailed directions on this can be found here.

Don’t know your username?

In order to login to your SLU Gmail, you should first update your account.  This helps secure it by allowing you to personalize your account password.  Your SLU account username is your Southeastern W# — The letter W followed by a 7 digit number that is unique to you (ex: W1234567).  This number is assigned upon completion of the application for admission to Southeastern and holds all of your Southeastern records.

If you do not know/have forgotten your W# or your SLU Gmail username, Southeastern provides a convenient online tool called WNumber/Email Login Lookup that can be used to easily locate this information for you.

Don’t remember your password?

If you forget your password, you must get your password reset before you can get logged in to Canvas or any of the other Southeastern systems like Workday and the most important one, your SLU Gmail!

Set up your Okta:  We strongly suggest that you set up Okta for your account so that you can manage your account online as well as secure it via a multi-factor verification process.

Having issues using the online tools:  In order for the university to securely reset your password, you will be required to prove your identity in person at the Student Technology Center/ Student Help Desk or contact the STC/SHD to schedule a brief video chat to prove your identity.  Keep in mind that you MUST provide a valid, picture identification whether you choose the in person or video chat method.
