Dr. Staci Taylor is an Assistant Professor of Nursing in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Southeastern Louisiana University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southern University and A&M College in 1996, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing Education (2002) and a PhD in 2007.

Dr. Taylor is certified in Biostatistics from the Institute for Statistics Education and is a certified Systematic Reviewer from Joanna Briggs Institute. She has teaching experience at all levels of nursing education (baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral) and has held administrative positions in nursing education, most recently having served as Chair of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program in Louisiana. Additionally, Dr. Taylor has served as a consultant for online RN to BSN Program development and has worked with nursing schools to enhance NCLEX preparation and scores.

As a veteran of the United States Army, Dr. Taylor believes that service is at the core of teaching and scholarship and is a key component to effectiveness as a Nurse Educator. Her experience as a Mentor has afforded her the opportunities to refine the skills of identifying and enhancing those characteristics that ensure success in nursing students, such as being loyal, honest, accountable, having a strong work ethic, and being a fast lifelong learner.

As a dedicated nursing faculty member with a focus on research, Dr. Taylor is committed to advancing the nursing profession through rigorous inquiry, innovative teaching, and the promotion of evidence-based practice, thereby improving client care and health outcomes. Her research interests include health promotion, NCLEX success, predictors of NCLEX success, and nursing education.

Dr. Taylor has presented at local, national, and international conferences and is published in peer review journals such as the Journal of Nursing Education and Practice, The Journal for Nurse Practitioners, Nephrology Nursing Journal, and the Association of Black Nursing Faculty Journal. She has also served in leadership positions in professional organizations, including president elect of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society’s Rho Zeta Chapter and past president of Baton Rouge District Nurses Association. Dr. Taylor was also a nominee for the Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nursing Faculty (May 2024).
