Student Organizations

Kappa Delta Pi (KDP)

The Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society subscribes to the four ideals of Fidelity to Humanity, Service, Science, and Toil. We endeavor to maintain professional fellowship, enhance professional growth, and honor achievement in the field of education and related helping professions.

Student Council for Exceptional Children (SCEC)

SCEC is a non-profit organization that serves individuals with special needs as well as their families. SCEC sponsors activities such as a Fall dinner and dance for the OPTIONS clients and local group homes and works alongside other local organizations to serve and aid individuals with exceptionalities and their families in the community.

Student-led Louisiana Early Childhood Association (SLAECA)

Our purpose is to increase awareness of the needs and to work for knowledge and understanding of young children in Louisiana both at school and at home and to provide opportunities for collaboration between those who are concerned about the needs of young children and families.

Student Success Center

One of the many purposes of the Student Success Center (SSC) is to provide candidates with resources that can help them achieve their goal of becoming a competent and effective educator. The SSC consists of a lab (TEC 239), which houses materials that can be checked out by the teacher candidate for use in lessons and a variety of other resources and services. PRIDE Educator Preparation Program

The mission of Southeastern’s PRIDE Educator Preparation Program Office (PRIDE Office) is to provide authentic clinical experiences for aspiring teachers to observe and interact with educational stakeholders, including educators, students, site administration, and support personnel in diverse school and community settings.

International Baccalaureate (IB)

The department offers courses leading to the IB Educator Certificate in Teaching and Learning: PYP. Eligible students must take the following courses in addition to completing Teacher Candidate Residency at an IB World School: IB 405, IB 415, IB 425, IB 435. For information about eligibility and requirements, please contact the Department Head.

After successful completion of courses leading to the IB Educator Certificate in Teaching and Learning, candidates may apply for their level of certification through the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) in Geneva, Switzerland.

Living Learning Communities (LLCs) are residential programs that allow you to connect with a diverse group of students who share a common focus. Freshmen Education students live together and participate in shared courses, special events and service projects as a group.
