Elgene Guillot Collection
Box 1
The Celebration of Life Festival occurred in McCrea, LA in Pointe Coupee Parish in
1971. This festival was meant to be a small follow-up festival to Woodstock. Elgene
Guillot was only 27 years old when he and a group of friends took photographs of the
various people and sights of the music festival. Among the photographs are: “hippies”
swimming in the Atchafalaya River, people sliding down the “mudslide” into a giant
mud puddle, and festival attendees camping out along the banks of the river. The last
section of the tape is from a separate trip irrelevant to the festival.
