Students who did not meet scholarship retention requirements due to extenuating circumstances may submit a Financial Aid Scholarship Appeal through their Workday account.
Examples of acceptable extenuating circumstances include, but are not limited to:
- Death of an immediate family member
- Personal illness or injury
- Other unforeseen or exceptional circumstances
Your written appeal must clearly address the following:
- The specific issue or situation
- When the issue occurred
- How long the issue lasted
- How the issue affected your academic performance
- Steps you have taken to improve your academic progress and meet future scholarship requirements
While a decision is pending, students are responsible for any outstanding balance on their university account that was previously covered by the scholarship.
How to Submit a Scholarship Appeal in Workday:
- Log in to your Workday account.
- In the search bar, type “Create Request” and press Enter.
- Under Request Type, select “Financial Aid Scholarship Appeal” and click OK.
- Complete the form, upload all relevant documentation, and click Submit.
Appeals are reviewed in the order received, and students will be notified of the decision through Workday within 5-7 business days after submission.

Please note: This appeal applies only to institutional scholarships, such as the Southeastern Honors Scholarship, Southeastern Honors Housing Scholarship, and Southeastern Transfer Scholarships.TOPS eligibility is determined by LOSFA and any appeals or exceptions need to be sent directly to LOSFA.
