What is The Louisiana Geaux Teach Scholarship Program?
The Louisiana Geaux Teach Scholarship Program was established to provide scholarships to students who are enrolled in teacher preparation programs or alternate certification programs approved by the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) at postsecondary institutions within the state.
The Geaux Teach Application for the 2026-2027 academic year is now available. Click the button below to visit the LOSFA website, then select “Geaux Teach Application” to begin the application process.
Eligibility Requirements
- Be a U.S. citizen and, if applicable, registered with the Selective Service.
- Be a Louisiana resident for at least two full years prior to July 1 immediately preceding the academic year of enrollment.
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each aid year.
- Be enrolled full-time in an approved teacher preparation program at a BESE-approved institution or enrolled in an approved alternative teacher certification program through the census date.
- Must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
- Have a minimum cumulative college GPA of 2.50.
- Must submit the required LOSFA Geaux Teach Application Form.
- Must not have received the award for more than four years (8 semesters).
What costs are covered?
Geaux Teach awards for undergraduate, graduate, and alternate certification programs must be applied before all other state or institutional financial aid. The scholarship may only be used for tuition, required fees, textbooks, and instructional materials necessary for a student’s course of study.
Award Retention
Students must meet the following requirements each semester to receive payment for Geaux Teach:
- Must be enrolled full-time on the 15th day of class each semester.
- Must earn a 2.5 cumulative GPA at the end of each Fall, Spring and all Interim sessions.
- Must maintain continuous enrollment through consecutive Fall and Spring semesters.
- Receive the award for no more than four academic years.
