How Is A Work-study Student Hired

The Department initiates the student hire in Workday.  The Workday business process electronically sends the hire to Financial Aid, Human Resources and appropriate Manager for approvals. 

Prior to beginning work, students hired are required to visit the Human Resource office on North Campus, Room 101 with the following original documents.  Copies will not be accepted.

U.S. Citizens:

  • Social Security Card
  • Driver’s License

International Students:

  • Social Security Card
  • Driver’s License
  • Passport
  • F-1 Visa (Issued by Department of Homeland Security)
  • I-94 (Issued by U.S. Customs and Border Protection)
  • Southeastern Work Permit (Issued by the University’s International Services Office)
  • Permanent Residence Card, if applicable

Onboarding Of Student Workers

All student worker information will be gathered in Workday.  Each newly or re-hired student worker is required to timely complete the Workday in-box items.  This will include the action items listed below.  Student may not begin working until this completed.

  • Personal Information
  • Veterans Status Identification
  • Government ID’s
  • Federal I-9
  • Emergency Contacts
  • Payment Elections (Direct Deposit)
  • Federal Tax Withholdings
  • State Tax Withholdings
  • Benefit Savings Election

Required Trainings

Student must complete all of the following trainings via Moodle Student Worker Training (print the certificate and provide to their Department): 

  • Bloodborne Pathogens
  • Drug Free Workplace Awareness
  • Return to Transitional Duty

Existing Student Workers:

If the student worker is an existing student worker and needs to update any information, please login to Workday and make any updates or changes in your Workday account.
