TRAINING

The University Police Department’s Training Division is responsible for coordination of our police officer field training program and police officer continuing education trainings. All peace officers, as defined in R.S.40:2402, shall complete a basic training course as prescribed and certified by the Council on Peace Officers Standards within one year of employment as a peace officer. All Southeastern Police Officers are required to complete this requirement, as well as complete no less than 20 hours of continuing education training each calendar year.
