2002 Distinguished Alumnus: Andre Coudrain

 

Andre Coudrain

Andre Coudrain is a great ambassador for Southeastern. He has served his university and community in innumerable and generous ways through the years. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Government in 1979 from Southeastern. While a student here, Andre was elected to Vice President of the Student Government Association. He served as chairman of the SGA Election Board, President of Circle K and served on numerous University Committees. His last year at Southeastern he was elected Outstanding Male Student of the year by the Division of Student Affairs. He was also the first student representative to serve as a voting member of the University of Louisiana System Board.

 

After attending graduate school at Southeastern, Andre attended Loyola University Law School and received his Juris Doctorate degree. He returned to Hammond to set up a practice of civil law. Andre is a member of the American Bar Association, Louisiana Bar Association, the 21st Judicial District Bar Association and the Louisiana Banks Association/Bank Counsel Section. He is a fellow of the Louisiana Bar Foundation and a founding member of the Inns of Court for the 21st Judicial Court. He is also a probation monitor in the Office of Disciplinary Counsel of the Louisiana Bar Association

 

Through the years, Andre has committed himself to serving his community. He has served as a member of the board, Vice President and President of Southeastern Alumni Association, and a board member of the Southeastern Development Foundation. Other board positions include the Hammond Chamber of Commerce, Hammond Kiwanis Club, Florida Parishes Bank, Tangipahoa Parish United Way, and the school board of the Diocese of Baton Rouge.

 

He was appointed in 2000 by the Governor of Louisiana to serve as a member of the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors and then was elected to the position of Chairman of that Board. That same year, Andre was elected a life member of the National Registry of Who's Who.
