Alicia Winborn is an instructor with the School of Nursing. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Southern University and A&M College. She began her nursing career in the emergency department and later expanded her expertise in the neonatal intensive care unit. As a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a strong background in emergency medicine, urgent care medicine, and internal medicine, she brings her clinical expertise across the lifespan to her teaching role.
At the School of Nursing, Alicia teaches both clinical assessment and skills lab courses as well as didactic courses including medication mathematics and medical terminology. She is passionate about teaching hands-on application of nursing care in our clinical lab courses where she emphasizes the integration of evidence-based practices utilizing critical thinking to deliver safe, high-quality compassionate care. Her teaching style is interactive and student-centered, and she strives to create an engaging and supportive learning environment that aids professional growth.
Family Nursing, which includes care and treatment of acute illness as well as chronic disease management across the lifespan.
