Interested in school leadership? The Department of Educational Leadership and Foundations offers master's and doctoral level programs for current and aspiring educational leaders. 

The responsibilities of educational leaders have become quite complex. Principals must be good managers, knowledgeable and effective instructional leaders, facilitators and team builders. The mission of Southeastern's Department of Educational Leadership and Foundations in the College of Education is to define and support research-based educational practices that prepare visionary leaders with the knowledge and experience to promote highly effective schools.

Southeastern Louisiana University has been admitted as a member institution to the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED)—a consortium of over 125 institutions around the world focused on transforming the advanced preparation of educational professionals to lead through scholarly practice for the improvement of individuals and communities. Southeastern is the first university in Louisiana to be selected for membership in this prestigious organization.

 

As a result of this membership, the Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership program will work diligently to ensure alignment with the mission and values of CPED. Students will enjoy a streamlined educational experience and will graduate with the skills necessary to lead organizations in solving complex problems in education settings. As a new member of CPED, faculty and students in the Department of Educational Leadership and Technology will have opportunities to present, publish, and network with others seeking to advance the education doctorate while leading the state of Louisiana in improving educational practice.
