From crawfish boils to baseball games, it's springtime on Southeastern's campus

Monday, April 20, 2015

The green and gold daffodils are blooming, and campus is buzzing with activity. Springtime at Southeastern brings about cool games, spicy food and university-wide camaraderie.

Hosted by Southeastern Athletics, "Pack the Pat" will take place Tuesday, April 21, before the Lions home baseball game at 6 p.m. The event will feature an employee appreciation tailgate for faculty and staff as well as free study packs, t-shirts and food for the first 200 students.

Also that day, University Housing will host "Fais Do Do" for students featuring crawfish, snowballs, music and more beginning at 4 p.m. Students can pay with a dining plan meal credit, $10 with Lion's Lagniappe or Cub Cash or $12 plus tax with cash, credit or debit. The event will be held outside the Student Union, and students are encouraged to make their way to the baseball game after the event.

On Wednesday, April 22, the annual springtime favorite "Strawberry Jubilee" will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside the Student Union. Sponsored by Campus Activities Board, the event features free activities and favorites such as red beans and rice, strawberries and other sweet treats and games.

Earth Day is also April 22. Look for "green" demonstrations near the Student Union and make a special effort to recycle using the new blue recycling bins stationed throughout campus.

The Rec Center will host "Rec Fest" Thursday, April 23. Students are invited to enjoy free crawfish, music by a DJ and more outside the Pennington Student Activity Center.

Friday, April 24, brings Swamp Bowl sponsored by the Rec Center and CAB. Contact Rec Sports for more information about this event.
