Guest artist Vance Woolf to appear in recital

HAMMOND – Wrapping up its Guest Artist Recital Series, Southeastern Louisiana University's Department of Fine and Performing Arts presents Vance Woolf on trumpet.

The concert will be held Tuesday (March 25) in Pottle Music Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Woolf is currently principal trumpet with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and serves as an instructor of trumpet at Louisiana State University. Originally from New Zealand, he was a cornetist in the Central Band of the Royal New Zealand Air Force while completing his undergraduate degree.

He continued his studies in the U.S. and earned a master's in performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. While there he toured internationally performing in various prestigious music festivals.

Woolf will be performing "Aria con Varizoni" by George Handel, "Sonata for Trumpet and Piano" by Kent Kennan, "Sonata for Trumpet and Piano" by Kent Kennan, "Sonata for Trumpet and Piano Op 18" by Thorvald Hansen. Piano accompaniment will be provided by Yui Asano.
