HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University has been named the top Louisiana public
university for online degree offerings by Accredited Schools Online (ASO), a website
dedicated to helping prospective students in their college searches.
The report is based on a scoring system that ranks accredited schools using various
cost-to-quality criteria and metrics. Among the criteria used are the number of online
degrees available, subject areas covered, student-faculty ratio, availability of academic
and career counseling services, employment placement services for graduates, and tuition.
“Quality and value are two areas that students and their parents evaluate in
looking at colleges and universities,” said President John L. Crain. “And, the availability
of our online programs certainly contributes to the success of our students.”
Southeastern was cited specifically for its online degree programs for individuals
who have earned registered nurse certifications and are looking to obtain bachelor’s
degrees. Other online degrees offered include master’s degrees in education and doctorates
in educational leadership and nursing practice.
ASO is a comprehensive accreditation resource that provides prospective students
and families with the tools needed to make well-informed decisions about their education.

Earlier this year, Southeastern’s online nursing program was ranked in the nation’s
Top 50 Best Value Online RN to BSN Programs for 2015. The program was ranked 36th
in the U.S. by ValueColleges.com.
Last year, Southeastern was ranked the top Louisiana university in online degree
offerings by a different website, Affordable Colleges Online (ACO). The ranking by
ACO ties into other high affordability ratings the university enjoys, including its
ranking of 19th in the country by Accounting Degree Review in a listing of the 30
most affordable residential degree programs in accounting.
