Southeastern Percussion Ensemble to present concert

HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University’s Percussion Ensemble will perform
in concert Monday, April 23. Sponsored by the Department of Music and Performing Arts
and The Lyceum Arts and Lectures Committee, the concert is scheduled at 7:30 p.m.
in Pottle Music Building Auditorium, and is free and open to the public.
The concert features the world premiere of “Utterances, Gestures, and Echoes
for Percussion Ensemble” by Don Owens. The University Percussion Ensemble commissioned
the work, and the composer will conduct the world premiere performance.
The concert will also include works by Beck, de Abreu, Ford, Green, Sejourne,
and Skidmore, in addition to solo performances by current graduate and undergraduate
percussion majors.
The ensemble is under the direction of Southeastern Lecturers of Percussion Michael
Brothers and Travis Henthorn.
