Council for Teacher Education Membership 2022-2023
Teacher education is considered to be an institution-wide function by Southeastern
Louisiana University. The Dean of the College of Education appoints a Council for
Teacher Education, which is broadly representative of all departments offering degree/certification
programs. The membership annually elects a chairperson.
The Council for Teacher Education formulates policies for teacher education, consistent
with state law and subject to the approval of the President and the University of
Louisiana Board of Supervisors. These policies deal with philosophy, objectives, organization
and administration, curricula, and student personnel services. The policies are administered
by the Dean of the College of Education.
Curriculum changes approved by the Council must be approved by the University Curriculum
Council.
Minutes of the Council for Teacher Education are available online beginning with
the 2001-2002 academic year. Minutes prior to September 2001 are stored in hard copy
form in the Office of Student Teaching under the supervision of Dr. Ellen Ratcliff,
Chairperson.
Meetings are scheduled for the third Wednesday each month. Meetings are not held in August, December, January, and May. |
