About The Lion’s Roar

Lion's Roar Masthead

since 1937

The Lion’s Roar provides a voice for the student body and the Southeastern community. As such, our
talented student staff provides both individuals and groups at the University a vehicle
to publicize activities and events of relevance to the University community.

As a weekly publication, The Lion’s Roar provides the campus community with an ongoing forum for the expression of ideas and
opinions in a free and open environment, and for the exchange and dissemination of
information. The Lion’s Roar, its associated websites and digital versions are designated public forums. Student
editors have the authority to make all content decisions without censorship or advance
approval. As a student-run publication, staff members also benefit from the opportunity
to learn and improve writing, reporting, editing, photography, layout and graphic
design skills.

Student organizations, Greek fraternities and sororities, clubs, associations or any
campus-recognized groups are encouraged to contact the staff of The Lion’s Roar if they desire coverage of events or activities. Any campus-recognized group may
submit an article to be included in The Lion’s Roar by filling out the Organizational News Form. Staff members strive to include as much as they can from week to week, but self-identification
by individuals or groups is the best way to ensure coverage in the paper.

Additionally, the staff attempts to provide individual students or members of the
community ample opportunity to have their opinion and viewpoint included in the paper
by completing the Letter to the Editor Form.
