Message from the Provost

Updated Deadline to Withdraw from the Summer 2016 Semester

The deadline for withdrawing or resigning from the university for the regular Summer 2016 semester has been extended to Thursday, July 7, 2016, 5:30 pm.  As with the Fall 2015 and Spring 2016 extensions, this will provide more time to communicate with students about their academic status, and it will provide students with more time to take appropriate actions.

The change in the deadline for withdrawing or resigning from the university is now posted on the Summer 2016 academic calendar, and has been noted in a revision of the Summer 2016 Semester Information Memo to faculty (formerly referred to as the “Welcome Back” memo or, if you go back far enough, the “Provost’s Blue Memo.”

Also, as stated in the Semester Information Memo to faculty each semester:

Instructors must provide each student with an evaluation of progress in a course no later than:
1. One week after the midpoint of a fall or spring semester
2. Two class days after the midpoint of a summer session
3. One class day after the midpoint of a term or interim session

The mid-point of the Regular, Term I, and Term II sessions are now also listed in the Academic Calendar.

Thank you for your attention to these matters, and I hope you have a productive semester.

Tena L. Golding,

Interim Provost
