Beta Alpha Psi

Beta Alpha Psi is a national scholastic and accounting honors organization. The purpose
of Beta Alpha Psi includes advancing the study and practice of accounting by providing
opportunities for self development and by promoting association among members and
professional accountants.

Membership Requirements

  • Must be an accounting major working towards a degree

  • Completed at least 6 hours of accounting courses numbered 221 or above.

  • Overall GPA of 3.00 or better, or a 3.25 average on the most recent 30 or more hours
    of course work completed that shall include a full semester.

  • The student must have a 3.25 or above GPA in all accounting courses.

    • If an accounting course above the principles level is repeated, then the average of
      the grades is used to compute the GPA.

  • All the courses must have been taken at Southeastern, or transferred with the approval
    of the Head of the Accounting Department.

  • Membership must be approved by the faculty of the Department of Accounting. 

Membership Renewal

  • Each member must accumulate a minimum number of hours per semester as per the Beta
    Alpha Psi point system in order to remain a member in good standing. The number of
    points will be determined at the beginning of the semester by the executive committee.

  • Each pledge must accumulate a certain number of points/hours, decided upon by the
    executive committee before each semester, in order to be initiated.

  • Any member who fails to accumulate the points necessary to sustain membership shall
    be subject to probation until points/hours are met.

National Association of Black Accountants

NABA, Inc. bridging the opportunity gap for people of color in the Accounting, Finance,
and Business professions

Mission

The mission of NABA, Inc. is to address the professional needs of its members and
to build leaders that shape the future of the accounting and finance profession with
an unfaltering commitment to inspire the same in their successors.

The Association shall unite through membership accountants, finance and business related
professionals and students who have similar interests and ideals, are committed to
professional and academic excellence, possess a sense of professional and civic responsibility,
and are concerned with enhancing opportunities for minorities in the accounting, finance
and business related professions. The goals of the Association include, but are not
limited to, the following:

  • To promote and develop the professional skills of our members

  • To encourage and assist minority students entering the accounting profession

  • To provide opportunities for members to fulfill their civic responsibilities

  • To promote public confidence in our members and the services they provide

  • To encourage cordial relations among members and cooperative relationships with other
    professionals

  • To represent the interests of current and prospective minority accounting professionals

  • To ensure long-term financial stability and provide adequate resources to implement
    chapter, regional, and national programs.

Financial Management Association

The vision of the Financial Management Association International is to be the global
leader in developing and disseminating knowledge about financial decision making.

Mission

FMA’s mission is to broaden the common interests between academicians and practitioners,
provide opportunities for professional interaction between and among academicians,
practitioners and students, promote the development and understanding of basic and
applied research and of sound financial practices, and to enhance the quality of education
in finance.

Serving the global finance community by:

  • Promoting the development of high-quality research that extends the frontier of financial
    knowledge

  • Promoting the understanding of basic and applied research and of sound financial practices

  • Enhancing the quality and relevance of education in finance

  • Providing opportunities for professional interaction between and among academics,
    practitioners, and students

Southeastern Accounting Society

SAS is an accounting emphasized organization which is open to all majors in the college
of business. The objective of SAS is to promote the retention and welfare of beginning
accounting majors in the college of business. SAS aims to create a fun, positive,
and supportive environment in which members will also learn job obtaining skills,
makr friends, improve their grades, and learn about the different career paths available
in the field of accounting.

  • Social – To help students to form relationships that will sustain them through the
    program and beyond

  • Mentorship – To provide the opportunity for more experienced students and faculty
    to guide newer students

  • Scholarship – To encourage and enable academic success

  • Professionial – To provide information about careers in accounting and means of achieving
    them

Membership requirements

  • SAS is open to ALL business majors
  • Each member must accumulate at least 4 participation points a semester. This can be
    done by attending:

    • 2 Business Meetings
    • 2 SAS Meetings
  • Each member must pay their $10 membership dues
