Steps to Receive Financial Aid

Step 1: Receive Award

Once your financial aid application file is complete, you will receive an award notification to your Southeastern email directing you to view, accept, or decline your financial aid award on your Workday account. The terms and conditions of your award offer should be reviewed prior to responding to the offer.

The deadline to accept a loan is:

  • Semester only loans: Last day of classes for that semester
Academic year loans: Last day classes of the spring semester

NSLDS Reporting Disclosure
Students and/or parents who enter into an agreement regarding a Title IV loan are advised that the loan information will submitted to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), and will be accessible by guaranty agencies, lenders, and schools determined to be authorized users of the data system.

The National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) is the U.S. Department of Education’s central database for student aid. NSLDS receives data from schools, guaranty agencies, the Direct Loan program, and other Department of ED programs.

NSLDS Student Access provides a centralized, integrated view of Title IV loans and grants so that recipients of Title IV Aid can access and inquire about their Title IV loans and/or grant data.

Students and/or parents can access their personal loan/grant information at studentaid.gov

Step 2: Complete Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note (MPN)

If you are accepting loans as a first-time borrower with Southeastern you will need to complete and submit the applicable promissory note(s) and entrance counseling. You will need to sign in using your FSA ID to complete these steps.

Terms and conditions of Federal Direct Student Loans (Direct and Direct PLUS) are listed on the Master Promissory Note signed by the borrower accepting the loan.

Please note: Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loans and Direct PLUS loans require separate MPNs. For example, if a student has a Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan and a Direct Parent PLUS loan on their account, separate MPNs need to be completed by each borrower. One by the student for Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan and one by the parent who is taking out the Direct Parent PLUS loan. Your aid will not disburse until this is complete.

Step 3: Check Account Balance

You can view your account balance on your Workday account . All outstanding charges, as well as pending financial aid is listed. You should review the Fee Payment FAQ’s for further details.

Step 4: Receive Disbursement

After classes have begun and the Add/Drop period has ended, your funds are ready for disbursement to your student account. Only funds that have been ‘Accepted’ are eligible to disburse. Accepted funds are disbursed weekly on the following Monday or Tuesday throughout the academic semester. If your semester funds are in excess of your semester charges, you may receive the excess in the form of a refund. Southeastern utilizes BankMobile Disbursements, a technology solution, powered by BMTX, Inc.

Step 5: Maintain Receipt of Aid

Review and familiarize yourself with the requirements to maintain your federal student aid. You will need to maintain the following to ensure continuous receipt of your federal student aid and other aid programs:
