Welcome to Student Support Services!

Student Support Services is supported through the United States Department of Education.
This program provides academic and self-enhancing assistance to students enrolled
at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana. All Services are provided FREE OF CHARGE to students who are first-generation, low
income, and students with disabilities.

Students are provided with academic, career, personal, graduate school, and financial
aid counseling, along with skill and content tutoring. Workshops are held throughout
the semester on such topics as math anxiety, resume writing, study skills, and other
topics requested by students. Auxiliary services are also provided or coordinated
for a limited number of students. The goal of the Student Support Services program
is to increase retention and graduation rates.

Each student who is accepted into the program is assigned to an academic counselor.
The counselors design an individual plan for each student based on academic record,
reported needs, and individual assessment. Counselors are also available to assist
students regarding University policy, financial aid, curriculum requirements, personal
concerns, and career development.

Throughout the year, workshops are offered to provide students with specific skills
and experiences designed to enhance retention, improve grade point averages, and promote
personal growth.
