If you click on a URL and
nothing happens
or you get a
warning message asking if you want to “allow scripts to run,”
when using Electronic Reserves, an index, or a database you may not have java or
javascripting enabled in your browser.
Why do I need Java?
Java and JavaScripting must be enabled in Internet Explorer or Firefox to connect
to electronic reserve materials or to take advantage of all the features in indexes
and databases.

To check if JavaScripting and Java are enabled in your Browser:

  • Internet Explorer
    1. At the top of the screen click on “Tools,” then “Internet Options”
    2. Click on the “Security” tab, then “Custom Level”
    3. Scroll down the list and check under “Scripting” that for each item “Enable” or “prompt”
      is checked
    4. Click on “OK” or “Yes” until you return to your browser window
  • Firefox
    1. At the top of the screen click on “Tools,” then “Options”
    2. Click on the word “Content”
    3. In the list of options make sure that “Enable JavaScript” and “Enable Java” are checked
    4. Click “OK”
