The university's radio station is heard throughout Hammond and the surrounding communities. Many announcers are communication students training for careers in the broadcast industry.
There's a little piece of lagniappe behind the curtain at Southeastern's historic Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts in downtown Hammond. For more than 10 years, performers – from local artists to marquee acts – have left their marks on a backstage brick wall, making it as much a showpiece as the venue itself. The wall features signatures from the likes of Boys II Men, Irma Thomas, Amanda Shaw, Pete Fountain and the WWII Museum's Victory Belles.
