Academic Advising

Advising for the Spring Semester will typically begin 3 weeks before priority registration. A week or so prior your assigned advisor will contact you via your Southeastern email with information and instructions. If you do not receive an email indicating your advisor, you may contact Christina.Parker@southeastern.edu  or Paula.VarnadoSullivan@southeastern.edu.To find your advisor, use the following site: Find Your Advisor.

All Psychology majors must be advised prior to registering for classes. Advising in our department is seasonal, meaning we advise during the 4-5 week window before and during priority registration. Advising for the spring semester is done during the preceding fall semester. Students are assigned an advisor and typically remain as their advisee until graduation. There are two exceptions: 1) Students who are on academic probation must meet in person with our undergraduate coordinator, Christina Parker christina.parker@southeastern.edu and 2) Students in good academic standing may request to be reassigned to another advisor by completing the Change of Advisor Request Form

About 2-3 weeks prior to priority registration, students will receive an email from their advisor about advising appointments and procedures. It is the student's responsibility to respond to this email and seek out advising during this time. Students must bring an updated curriculum sheet (see link below) and a tentative list of courses to your advising appointment. Online advising is also available for students in good academic standing. Instructions for online advising in LEONet can be found here.  In addition to reviewing the appropriate curriculum sheet, it is imperative that students look over the information provided in the link below titled 'Curriculum Notes and Policies'. Students are responsible for knowing this information and for choosing their classes accordingly.

It is critical that you know your catalog/curriculum year since course requirements vary by catalog year. Catalog year usually coincides with the academic year you became a psychology major at Southeastern. You may verify your catalog year by checking the student summary section available to you in LEONet.
