Our Objective

The Southeastern Turf Management department is responsible for maintaining and improving all turf in academic areas campus wide.

Our Goals

Along with maintaining a clean and neat appearance of turf areas through proper mowing practices, continual litter control, mulching, and removal of leaves and straw from parking areas; the Turf Management team is also looking for ways to improve turf’s appearance and structure.

We are continuously looking for ways to enhance our universities turf through the following programs:

Calendar

December – February

  • Mulch leaves

  • Repair damage turf areas

  • Clean parking lots (semester break)

  • Soil testing

  • Aeration late in season

  • Litter Control

  • Machine Maintenance

  • Projects

March – May

  • Fertilize with organic or 3-1-2 fertilizer ratio

  • Begin mowing and edging turf

  • Start and schedule irrigation systems

  • Begin fire ant control

  • Litter Control

  • Mulch live oak leaves

June – August

  • Mowing, mowing, and more mowing

  • Spray weed killer in all parking lot areas

  • Continue fire ant control

  • Litter control

September – November

  • Mowing transitioning into mulching

  • Prep areas for tailgating during football season

  • Winter weed control pre-emergent

  • Began to evaluate what projects can be done during winter season

  • Litter Control
