Chief Michael Beckner

Director of University Police

Chief Beckner started his law enforcement career in 1995 serving the City of Corinth and the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office in such roles as Patrol, Traffic Unit Supervisor, Narcotics, and Chief Investigator.

In 2006, Michael took a position with the University of Alaska Anchorage working his way through the ranks to the position of Chief.

Chief Beckner holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration and a Juris Masters from Liberty University School of Law. Chief Beckner is a graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command, International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Executive Development Institute, and the FBI LEEDA Executive Leadership Institute.  Michael is a veteran of the US Army and National Guard.

Chief Beckner is honored to lead a team of dedicated sworn and unsworn staff that share the value of providing a safe and inclusive environment for of Students, Staff, Faculty, and the whole Southeastern Community. We are proud to Protect Louisiana’s Future.
