HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University's dance program will hold auditions Thursday, May 15, for an upcoming dance concert to be directed by Dance Instructor Skip Costa.

Sponsored by the Department of Fine and Performing Arts, the concert will be held in the fall.

"Auditions are open to all Southeastern students, including incoming fall 2014 freshmen," Costa said. "Students attending the audition will be taught several movement phrases in contemporary dance and fusion forms, the intermingling of different dance styles within a dance: contemporary and hip hop, jazz, ballet, etc."

Auditions are scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. in the dance studio located in the Kinesiology and Health Studies Building. Costa said students should wear something that shows their form, especially on the upper body torso, and should arrive by 4:45 p.m. to complete an audition form.

"If selected for the performance, students must enroll in DNC 106 for freshmen and sophomores or DNC 406 for juniors and seniors, which meets from 2 to 3:15 on Tuesdays and Thursdays," Costa added.

Costa said students must also enroll in one dance technique course selected from the following: DNC 120-01 – Jazz Dance I; DNC 130-01 – Modern Dance I; DNC 140-01 – Ballet I; DNC 162-01 – Theatre Dance; or DNC 320-01 – Jazz Dance III.
